Harvest Power Expands Its Commercial Solar Power Into 5 States

Harvest Power just completed another successful year of C & I solar installations.
For the second year in a row, we completed installations in 5 different states; NY, NJ, CT, MA & NH.
The projects were a mix of customer owned projects, PPA’s and Community Solar projects, some of which were developed and installed by Harvest Power and then sold at PTO to third party finance providers. In addition, Harvest Power partnered with some local and national solar developers to install projects in the NYC Metro area utilizing our experienced in-house installation crew.
Community Solar
Harvest Power has been very active in developing and installing community solar projects across the NYC metro area. We have just completed our 5th community solar project in PSEG-LI utility, out on Shelter Island, NY and are in the process of finishing the installation of our 6th community solar project in the Hauppauge Industrial Park (HIA).

In Solar Panel News: New York is Leading the Charge to Bring Solar Power to Its People En Masse With Groundbreaking Legislation
On July 18th, 2019, Governor Cuomo signed New York’s landmark Climate Leadership & Community Protection Act setting ambitious solar power goals moving into the new decade. The bill requires there to be at least 6 gigawatts of solar energy, enough to power one million homes, be in effect by 2025. Further, it requires at least 70% of the electric generation come from renewable sources by 2030. New York is stepping out as an innovative leader in the fight against global warming by encouraging the use of these renewable sources like solar power. This means amazing things are on the horizon for solar power in the coming years in all of New York.

Incentivizing Their Citizens to Implement Solar for Beginners and Expert Users Alike

Your Guide to the Top New Jersey Solar Incentives

The truth is, you’re almost out of time to reap the benefits of the NJ Clean Energy Act and other such solar power incentives. That’s why we’ve written you this guide.

State Incentives
Here are the incentives provided by the state of New Jersey under the Clean Energy Act.
Solar Renewable Energy Credits
Solar Renewable Energy Credits (SRECs) are credits you earn for producing clean energy. Here’s how it works.
Every 1,000 kWh of energy produced by your solar energy system earns you one SREC. Then, you essentially sell these credits back to your utility company.
Homeowners have been known to make around $300 for each SREC they earn. You could earn thousands of dollars in these tax credits every year.
And, by enrolling in this program, you’ll receive these benefits for a full ten years.
Tick Tock
Don’t wait any longer, though, if you want to enroll in these benefits. This is a limited time offer.
According to the New Jersey Clean Energy Act, the program will expire as soon as solar power accounts for 5.1% of the state’s total energy production. So far, the state’s percentage of electricity from solar power is already up to 4.45%.

The goal of 5.1% may be reached very soon. Even if it isn’t, the program will end on June 1, 2021, regardless.
However, those who enroll now will still receive the full ten years of benefits.
State-Sponsored Tax Incentives
The state of NJ also ensures you get your solar energy system tax-free. Specifically, you pay no sales tax on the purchase of your system and are exempt from property taxes on your solarized home.

Federal Incentives
In addition to these, there are federal solar energy incentives to reap as well, such as the ability for business to depreciate the asset. This can add another 20 to 30% in tax savings depending on their your bracket and your tax liability. With the current tax law, they are able to depreciate 100% of the asset in one year

Percentage Off Solar Energy Systems
There’s still time to earn a tax credit on the total price of your system. Until now, the tax credit has been 30%. Unfortunately, as of December 31, 2019, it has dropped to 26%.
The good news is, you still have until the end of 2020 to take advantage of the 26% rebate. Then, it drops to 22% before it expires completely at the end of the year 2021.

Mandatory Green Roof Law Passes for New York Buildings

About Local Laws 92 & 94
The New York City Council passed Local Laws 92 and 94 in April of 2019.

What exactly is a sustainable roofing system? According to the new law, it includes a solar photovoltaic (PV) power generation system, a green roof, or a combination of the two.

These incentives include the rebates through Con Edison, with extra incentives for LMI housing, the property tax abatement for going solar that lowers the property tax bill during first four years after the system is installed and the Federal tax credit, which when combined with the depreciation savings allows customers the potential to cover around 80% of the cost of the system.
